Most pople do the six day from point A to point B approach.  The day by day
will not be what you actually hike anyway.

As far as bulk items, this will be available only a couple of times on the
whole trip - just in the bigger cities.  My guess would be:

Big Bear
Agua Dulce (you can get ride into LA)
Mammoth
Ashland

If you have a special diet you are pretty much stuck with US mail resupply.
The towns are small and the selection is okay just not what you would expect
in a large city.

Than again anyone who eats corn pasta can't be too picky!
