I think it was to get away from the burning area. Guys went "Gadget's" route
after the fire and said it was better than going through the burned out area
plus the hot springs. You might check some of the journals and see what was
written about it.
Anyone reading this that took the burned or Gadget's route last year want to
put in their 2 cents worth. Would help out this years crew.
