>My research shows that most hikers start the PCT at the Kick Off or the last weekend of April. I don't see this changing in 2010. Most >people want to travel in a herd, it is typical animal and human behavior. Because of this most people will probably start close to the >last week of April.

this is why I like this list: I now know that I need to start before the Kick Off for some quiet hiking away from the crowds.
If I wanted a "social" experience I'd be heading to the AT or a city (not that I'm opposed to seeing others out there, but I don't want to be in the middle of the tide).

BTW: my hike is called Mike's Survival Celebration Expedition, and will be a fundraising effort to raise money to help with medical bills from unexpected and unforeseen illness or injuries, for outdoor professionals (guides and the like; the website is not up yet, but it's coming....I'm celebrating surviving a most unexpected triple bypass and intend on finishing on or about the one year anniversary of the surgery (the cardiologist thinks I'm nuts--I might be!--but he's given his blessing anyway.
