[pct-l] Fit for a thru-hike?

My thru-hike start date is rapidly approaching and I personally have fallen behind on my physical training for this years hike. The station fire has closed down my favorite and close hiking ground (excuse #1). I've been walking when I get a chance, but work has really slowed my training... (excuse #2). I'm planning on my first major hike next week...I'm still waiting for my permit (excuse #3). The excuses I have seem valid but they are just excuses. About 15% of hikers leave the trail due to injury and physical training could potentially eliminate this. I really need to intensify my training. I don't want to be a statistic.

If there are other hikers out there that haven't intensified their training I hope they start now... there isn't much time left. And don't feel alone I will be starting my intense training at the same time...

Today... I'm walking and jogging at least ten miles...to see how it feels. My mind says it will be easy...but I will find out what my body says.
