[pct-l] Five-Fingers

Hi Nathan,

There was a few people trying out five fingers this year for extended hiking but I would estimate over 98% wore shoes or boots. In 2010 I saw one thru hiker with a broken toe, it looked so painful. He was wearing five fingers when it happened. I never saw anyone or heard of anyone getting a broken toe while wearing shoes or boots in 2010. From this limited information I would conclude that the chances of a foot injury are much greater when wearing five fingers. This could be due to the fact that five fingers do not have the same support as shoes or boots.

Good luck on your hike..

Paul
