15 to 20 Km running is 9 to 12 miles...

... not 24 to 32 miles as you'd posted ... that would be running 51 kilometers
... if you do that you are definitely elite ; ) i think you converted
backwards.

I might be the last one to respond. We are not professional physical
elites, then we need not to execute intensive trainings. Too much
training damage your body.

My methods:

I usually commutes with the cross bike, do not use bus or train. This
is effective to maintain the muscles of thigh.
I usually run two or three times in a week ( total 15-20 Km, 24-32
miles ) This is effective to improve the cardiopulmonary function.
I usually do physical exercise by the dumbbell and stretch for about
5-10 minutes everyday. This is a very short training, but has some
effect for arms and muscle of upper body.
I make a 2-4 days short hike in a month. I use fresh foods for short
hike, then my total pack weight always exceed 30 pounds.

I am called as "Heavy Trucker" in US and Japan. It's my honor. But I
am not a strong man. I simply selected the good backpack, in which the
total pack weight can be supported by the waist. When your pack weight
exceed 20 pounds, the good supportive backpack is needed.

That is all.
