[pct-l] bear cans and smellables

I've wondered about the requirement to put 'smellables' in the can,
along with food. DEET is considered a smellable.

Most everyone deets up in the Sierra. I regularly lacquer it on,
especially in the evening when cowboy camping. So why aren't humans
attacked on a regular basis? Bears think we don't taste good?

And while we're on the subject, I've been through Yosemite/SEKI three
times now, and not once seen a bear. I think I heard one roar once,
but that could have been a recording. Camped in Lyell Canyon twice,
Glen Aulin, other developed campgrounds etc. I figure all this bear
talk is just so much fear-mongering and hype, probably sponsored by
the same people who faked the moon landings.

It hasn't happened to me on the trail, therefore it can't be true.
