The reference to 'first 150 miles' makes me wonder if your intent is
to go into Idllwild at hwy 74, before proceeding up to Saddle Junction
area. Shouldn't face potential ice axe worthy challenges before that
point, so if you pick up ax in town, then come back out, that should
work.
