I don't remember needing  water for myself at Sissors as I still had enough brought from the well at Sunrise Highway. Since I had planned on camping at Sissors I would have needed about 5 gallons for Primo. That's why I rode west.

I can just imagine what Primo was thinking when you stopped at Scissors, took a long drink, then climbed back up and asked him to go!!!!!

Scott,
During my 2008 PCT ride, wnen I arrived at Sissors Crossing the creek was dry and there was a fair amount of water at the cache. Considering that the hikers would need that water I took NO water for Primo. I decided to ride up the sholder of the highway towards Julian and try to find a farm. All of the gates were locked and one with a cattle guard was too dangerous to try with a horse. It was getting late and dark. I continued about 3 miles and saw a light coming from a roadside building. It turned out to be a night light in an artists studio. No one there. I could see water running across an Irish Bridge 75' away and behind a locked gate. To reach the water I ended up leading Primo through the yard and having to remove his saddlebags to get through a narrow garden gate. Got water for Primo and camped under a big oak tree. Left early next morning, On the way to the 2009 Kickoff I stopped off there and met the property owner and cleared up the mystery of
the Phantom Horse that stopped at thier property a year earlier.
