Wondering if any one else has experienced this- noticed early last year pain in both knees when I allowed them to lock straight.( I have bow legs too) Then hurt the left one immensely when footing slipped out under heel and the knee went backwards. Ortho said I would need surgery to repair cartlidge and possibly ACL.. Long story short... ACL was "tightened" during surgery, but was not torn, and cartlidge fixed, but knees still hyperextend and hurt when relaxed into lock position. I was fitted with huge heavy metal braces that prevent knees from going back and given exercises to strengthen quads and hams. But they dont seem better and I walk with out extending the left one fully.
Doc suggested 15 minutes of hills on the bike as hard as I can and 10 hamstring pulls as heavy as I can, once a day..
But hiking is endurance, shouldnt I be doing low weights and many repititions? Thinking of getting a second opinion. Hiked last year with cortisone injections which are wonderful short term, but trying to avoid it for this year. Any insight helpful... thanks
