Was that case with a deceased camper on the PCT?  

Sounds like it was simply the person's time to go, eh? ( I once knew a guy who 'went' while
driving down the freeway. I'm actually surprised this doesn't happen much more).

On a different tone, there was a case on another mountain of a complete
campsite being found with a dead camper inside. Now you have a scene that
needs to be preserved for evidence (turns out no crime involved) and
surviving family to consider.
