Hi gang,
Got back from the JMT, found this message from Scott and thought I share
it and my reply with you.
Scott,
Nice to hear from you and congratulations to you and Adam on a most
outstanding achievement.
The PCT in under 66 days is mind boggling.....breaking Horton's "with
a support team record" without the support of a support team is just
amazing and then finishing day 65 with 51 miles just blows me
away.....you guys are truly hardcore.
With, I belief, twelve PCT "thru-hikes" including two yo-yo "thru-hikes"
and now two PCT records you are without a doubt the undisputed,
undeniable, unquestionable ''King of the PCT '' and I will bow in your
presence.
You are truly my hero.
I know, all records sooner or later get broken.....I am, however, not at
all convinced your accomplishments will ever get broken....not in my
lifetime anyhow.
I just got back from my tenth JMT hike, this time with my wife in a
leisure 15 days.
I lost 10 lb because I was hauling a 55 lb pack to keep my wife
''ultra-lite''.......I treat my women right.
The plan was for me to go back in after taking my wife home (I even had
the permit) and do a ''unsupported sub five JMT''.
However, important business obligations prevented me from going back
in.....bummer!!!!.....this probably was my last opportunity for a
''unsupported sub five JMT'' because at one month shy of age 69 my
window of opportunity is shutting quickly......my wife is shouting
''IT SLAMMED SHUT LONG TIME AGO!!!
Ohhh well......I can always take up crocheting and knitting in my old age.
Again, congratulations to you and Adam for an outstanding accomplishment.
Your buddy
JMT Reinhold
