[pct-l] Early pick-ups NB

I have done a number of multi-day hikes from Mexico to Independence.  This spring I want to start hiking north bound the week of Memorial Day.  I know that I can't jump on the JMT that early, but I am thinking that maybe somewhere in mid to northern California might be doable, without having to fight a lot of snow.  I can read the elevation charts, but they don't always tell the whole story.  Any suggestions?
