Greyhound and amtrak have service to bakersfield. From there you can take a regional transit bus through lake isabella to onyx, which is about a 20 mile hitch to the trail. Stock up in lake I first, there's hardly anything in onyx other than a po and a chevron.

Brian here (stick) from pct 2007. Probably going to be doing some hiking
next year for a month or two along the PCT. Going to go north from Kennedy
meadows or that area like highway 178 before Kennedy meadows. Looking for
the cheapest way to get to that area. Are there any buses that go from one
of the bigger cities to lake Isabella? I am not sure what will be the
easiest to get to that area from Las Vegas? Fresno? LA? Currently thinking
flying into LA, then trying to get out to the saufleys and hitching north
from there. Any suggestions.
