I'll pass on some good advice given to me - buy your pack last.  Take all your gear to the outfitter and make sure the  pack will hold what you intend to carry.  Especially make sure you can accommodate a bear can, either inside or strapped on outside somewhere.

hey all, 

interested in seeing the common pack volume of PCT thru hikers. Cubic 
inches. i'm looking at the ULA circuit and find it is 2,400 main and 1,200 
side and front mesh. any comments?? thanks all!!
