The tried and true, sure fire method that every long distant hiker knows:

How many hikers made it to Big Bear with softer feet? Probably none. The
same walking on hot ground that causes blisters also ultimately causes
callouses.

The good news is you can get the callouses without the blisters by walking
on hot ground in moderation. It's called training. If your feet are getting
hot spots from the effects of walking on hot ground, your training day is
over *before* you get blisters. You will get nice, juicy callouses in the
process.

As the days get longer and the ground gets warmer now is the time to start
developing those callouses, not when you hit the trail. You still have
plenty of time.

Don't wear shoes and socks around the house, wear thongs, sandals or go bare
foot.

Don't wear thick, sweat inducing socks on the trail they create and trap
moisture which is a major contributor to blisters. Air your feet at every
rest stop, take off your pack, take off your shoes.
