The maps in the guidebook were way too confusing for me. I couldn't line them up from one page to the next. I tried to get a feel for them before I left on the trip but it was no use. I bought forest service maps for Oregon, which were far heavier. My Ace was Mother Goose, who understood the guidebook maps, plus she had hiked Oregon four times prior.
