I've been thinking about snakes a lot lately because I'm going
to go do Scott Mountain <--->Etna Summit this weekend.
I've seen as many as 5 rattlesnakes in a weekend in the Trinity Alps.
Usually where there's a log across the trail and the snake can use the
shadow and sun to regulate heat. So I step on the log instead of just over the log
and that turned into a habit.
Unfortunately when I went to the White Mts to do some AT hiking.... everytime
I stepped on a log they were slick as a banana peel and I fell so many times that
I'm lucky I didnt break something. My buddy was like when are you going to learn
you can't step on logs.
