Hey, what do you like for carrying those big loads of water? I'll be going out to Joshua Tree to do a little walking around in a couple weeks and rather than carry the ussual gallon jugs I'd look around and get what I want to use this summer for a couple of the dry sections. I like the idea of the collapsible bottles like platipus (or ?) as one can push the extraair out so the bladder doesn't slosh so much like a half full jugg does. Am I on the right track here in my thinking? I'm a bit spoiled from all my Sierra trips where I can walk around with a swallow in my bottle and don't even filter my water. A long time back in Utah I would carry a few of the big 1-1/2 liter tall bottles because they backed so well right behind my back, but I don't think thisis gonna work as I don't want to carry fouror five of them, and that was a much different pack and hiking style, and those tall bottles aren't very collapsable.
Also, my thinking right now from the Sierra to Lassen is to carry my walk about drinking bottle and a collapsable 2qt in my pack toold station where I'll then have my bigger container waiting for Hat Creek Rim, and then send it back from the next P.O. Something like this seem about right?
What do you think?
