There is the DIGEST MODE which is all the e-mails from a given day:
http://mailman.backcountry.net/mailman/listinfo/pct-l

Another method (one I prefer) is to put yourself in    NO E-MAIL  mode (may be called something slightly 
different) and simply read the e-mails at http://mailman.backcountry.net/pipermail/pct-l/   You can pick and 
choose  what e-mails you want to read.

You can reply to an e-mail by simply typing an e-mail 
TO: pct-l at backcountry.net

and then send away.

My e-mail box does not get clogged that way and I don't have to worry about excess e-mail when I am away.
