Bridgeport IPA is the world's best. I even bought a hat there.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned loading up on freeze-dried meat, veggies, and fruit. (Also cheese, which I haven't tried yet). Can be eaten as a trail snack, by itself with water, or as a supplement to Lipton sides, ramen, instant mashed potatoes, etc. It's expensive but very light (NOT dehydrated), and doesn't spoil if kept dry. The LDS companies specialize in stuff like that. My source was Emergency Essentials, beprepared.com.
