[pct-l] trail to saddle junction

Does anyone know if there is a good trail from the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway over to Saddle Junction?  I started to section hike the PCT in 07 and did Campo to Saddle Junction (went out at Idywild) and want to continue on to Kennedy Meadows this year.  I can get myself to Palm Springs pretty easily, but don't know of a convenient way to get over to Idylwild to come up the Devils Slide trail (from the west).  Guess I can hitch hike if I have to.
