Does anyone have any bear or mountain lion stories?

At a campground in the Coast Range between Portland and Tillamook, so not on the PCT, after having some beers and burgers, I went to sleep in the tent having left part of a bag of chips out on the picknick table.  I know, that's not very bright.  In the night I was woken up by heavy stepping sounds.  It sounded as if a really big heavy guy with workboots was plodding around the table and then off down the very short trail towards the river.  After a few minutes of listening further I didn't hear anything else so I went back to sleep.  In the morning I found the chip bag on the ground in the bushes near the trail to the river.
