Please note the following musings are from a WA state section hiker:

Start in Canada, as soon as the snow melts--hope for a low snow year OR if you can hike like Scott Williamson, start in August.  Go fast and UL but carry more food and skip resupply points that require hitching to town.  Look to the Nascar Pitstop for inspiration on your mail-drops.  Pass the majority of Nobo's clandestinely with just a nod.  Get through the Sierra before the snow and with easier stream crossings.  Expect less water at the end but cooler temperatures and now you're in better shape to carry lots.  Hopefully you've just missed all the bad bugs.  Lonely, but think of the time you'd save with no social scene.
