When I was planning for my 2008 hike, I looked at various options for
foods I might carry. I did not carry anything that had less than 110
calories per oz. Some foods will have more, but 110 calories per oz is
about as low as I went, and is pretty typical for dry foods. Some foods,
such as nuts, peanut butter, and chocolate will be higher.
I was just using 110 calories per oz as a low average.
