Did I ever tell you about the time . . .
So there I was . . .
I wasn't known as a gram counter but I didn't pack a razor during my 1980 through hike. I went months at a time without shaving. Fortunately, my beard -- if you can call it that -- was more like that of Shaggy, the character on Scooby Doo.
I also didn't pack deodorant. (Yes, I packed soap.) I also left my disco shoes at home. I was focused on Canada, not impressing women.
Speaking of . . . I also wondered -- but was too afraid to ask -- what the women did regarding the topic.

> So, there I was.. In Mojave California. I was at the Motel 6. I tried to lather up and shave the thing with a razor but the result was "instant clog". Dude, facial hair is like wire! Anyhow I pulled the Victornox classic out of my GoLite pack(He He) and clipped away at my beard for like an hour. Then I was finally able to shave the remainder. In fact I managed to clog the drain of the room at motel 6 twice. Fortunate I am a plumber!
> Looking back, I think that instead of all the dang oatmeal I sent to myself... A plastic razor and would have been more valuable.
