Hi, Stephen & List!

At this point, we have had about 3 feet overall this season. If you go to 
http://www.sierraavalanchecenter.org/ and search for their snow test videos, 
you'll see how unstable the current snow pack is right at the moment. 
Earlier we received what amounted to about 8" of base, which crusted over on 
top as brief warm weather came in. On top of that we received another 18" 
that did not bond well to the first layer, thus the instability demonstrated 
in the videos http://www.sierraavalanchecenter.org/node/213.

Now, we are getting nailed with the snow equivalent of what LA is seeing in 
rain. At this time we have an additional foot at South Lake Tahoe on top of 
the rest.

Should be a good snow season. Keep your eyes on it if you are thru hiking 
this next season. You might want to attend some snow travel clinics close to 
you in the meantime....
