IIRC, there's been at least one fore caused by an alcohol stove.
The last two years I've been using an Optimus Stella+ remote canister stove. I use a Primus ETA pot, which has a built-in heat exchanger and a wind screen with this stove. While this setup is heavier than an alcohol stove, it is very efficient. It brings water to boil faster than you can say Jack Robinson. This allows me to carry less fuel, which helps with the weight issue. It also seems safer to use than an alcohol stove.
