[pct-l] thru hike start date

 Would I be crazy to start a northbound hike on May 24th? Would I die of heat stroke in the desert? I could possibly go do the first hundred miles or so during spring break, and then begin slightly further north in may, but that would be at a significant added cost, since I'd have to fly out from Atlanta.
