I won't worry too much. It can happen but usually doesn't. I would keep an ear to the ground around central/southern OR; you'll know by then and could make any adjustments.

I'll be coming sobo into northern California in early October.  The guidebook says "serious snowstorms can hit" section R beginning in September.  What does that mean for October?
