one thing that should be noted about the backpacker magazine pct map is 
that, unlike the forest service trace, it was created using gps tracking 
by an actual pct thru-hiker (union jack) in 2006. all the annotations 
are his personal observations, from his own experience hiking the trail.

i've noticed quite a few places where the forest service trace is just 
dead wrong or offset, whereas jack's gps trace is much more accurate.
