Jim Payne and the Saufleys sponsor a bear canister loaner program that you 
may want to check into:

You reserve a canister, arrive at the Saufley's and pick it up, use 
canister, mail it back when you're done. It's an excellent program for those 
who choose to carry a canister.

They're always looking for new canisters as well. If you have a canister 
collecting dust and want to loan or donate it to the cause, check with them. 
In doing so you provide a fine service to the entire hiking community and 
the bears!
