[pct-l] Would you carry a extra 8 grams on your thru hike?

Question - would a good monopod not possibly make a great walking stick?  On top of which your camera would happily sit?  Also, I always keep a table top tripod with me...which is capable of holding a full size DSLR with a small lens.  Just a suggestion!
