Resending this as it bounced back the first time due to the server being
unavailable.


Received my Feb 2008 Communicator a few days back.  Reading thru the
article "Fresh Water" (p. 16 on), the authors recommend hikers not rinse
their dirty clothes in lakes or streams as this rinsing adds nutrients to
the water which can feed algae. To say nothing of the germs that have
accumulated in your dirty underwear. Similarily they recommend rinsing off
well away from the water before taking a swim.
