by Allen Johnson’s IMT which is currently managing the West Zone of
the Clover Fire. The Clover Fire Area Closure activated on June 25
remains in effect until rescinded by the Forest Service.

Future updates of fire activity on the Inyo National Forest will be
posted as the need arises. Beginning Saturday June 28, contact the
Inyo National Forest at 760-873-2427 for fire information or view the

Clover Fire Area Closure

The Clover Fire has burned across several popular trails, as well as
the Pacific Crest Trail. Therefore, the Forest Supervisors of the
Sequoia and Inyo National Forests issued a fire area closure to
provide short-term resource protection and for public health and
safety, pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50. In the interest of public and
firefighter safety and to maximize fire suppression efforts, travelers
using the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) between Olancha Pass and Kennedy
Meadows, Wildrose Trail, Haiwee Pass Trail, Long Canyon, Lost Meadow
Trail, Honeybee Trail and the Beck Meadow Trail will encounter
closures or detours within the fire area. The alternate route for
people hiking through the PCT follows the road from Kennedy Meadows to
Jackass Trailhead, then the Jackass Trail through Broder and Monache
Meadows and Olancha Pass trail to the PCT. This route will be marked
as "PCT Detour."

The closure is effective June 25 through July 8, 2008, or until the
order is rescinded. The following activities are prohibited while the
closure is in effect -- entering or being in the closure area or being
on any National Forest System roads or trails within the Clover Fire
area. The entire closure order and map can be accessed at http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/inyo/
