There are bear boxes at Vogelsang, Merced Lake, Sunrise, Glen Aulin, and Little Yosemite available to backpackers, which are separate from the guest boxes at the High Sierra Camps.

Diane,

You will find bear boxes at Tuolumne Meadows and in Yosmite Valley.  These are the only ones you will find between Mammoth and Yosemite Valley.  There just aren't any in between any more.  There are a few boxes at the High Sierra Camps, but they are only for the paying guests.  All of the other "popular camp sites" are box-free, and even the suspension cables have been removed.  The Park Service is very firm about using bear cannisters.
