[pct-l] Fire closures Quincy/LaPorte Road to Highway 36 Hope for openings

For NOBO hikers south of Sierra City ...
Some or all closure areas of the PCT between the Quincy La Porte Rd and Hwy 36
maybe open real soon.
Plumas NF verbally indicates stay tuned for changes over the next few days.
Lassen NF closure from just North of Belden to Hwy 36 is undergoing hazard removal.
Private businesses and resorts in forest communities along Highway 70 and
the Quincy - Oroville Road, including facilities around Bucks Lake are open.
Snake Lake campground is now open.
The Forest has rescinded the closure in the Bucks Lake Wilderness,
known on previous maps as Closure Area 2, effective today, July 28, 2008.
Other Forest Closures remain in effect.

Pacific Crest Trail - north to Lassen National Forest Boundary Open
The Lassen National Forest Boundary is a mile or two NW of Belden.
Further North, July 24, the Lassen National Forest continues the closure order
for the PCT from Hwy 36 south to the Plumas National Forest boundary.
Several crews are removing fire damaged trees.
