Hi Crystal... as a young solo female hiker I think that you will be
very safe hiking alone. I have never felt threatened or compromised
hiking by myself. It is quite an invigorating experience that can
give you a new sense of found freedom. I think you will enjoy the
satisfaction of hiking alone and camping by yourself. I remember my
first time camping alone was a few weeks into my PCT thru hike. and I
was scared to death. But when I woke up in the morning I was so
excited and my confidence grew a lot.

Tips however are:
never tell anyone you meet on the trail where you are headed or how
long you are going to be out for. Don't give strangers any
information about yourself. Most anybody you meet will mean you no
harm.... however, just for safety's sake I don't give any
information to anybody. Use your best character judgement if you do
decide to hike with someone you meet...

If you are hitchhiking alone, don't take a ride with anyone your gut
says not to and listen to it. Be polite and say, oh thanks for
stopping, I just realized I left something at my last break spot I
need to go back and get.

Hope this helps!
