[pct-l] Hiking poles on flights

We were hiking in Spain when 9-11 occurred, which changed the rules of carry-ons. We ended up wrapping our poles in a black garbage (Hefty-type) bag, securing it with duct tape, and checking them through. Not sure if I'd repeat this, but it actually worked! Nowadays we collapse them and carry them in a lightweight duffel bag.
