[pct-l] hikin' the hardpack

i'm thinkin' of an 11 ounce axe and some lightweight katoolah crampons might work better for more effortless travel through the sierras on hardpack rather than postholin' in the moosh.
anyone try this? is it worth it? all dependant on the snowpack this comin' year of course
