I don't know who these folks are who "wish the whole discussion would
go away" ... or who "they" are who "don't want their actions
scrutinized." It certainly isn't the ADZPCTKO organizers! Check out
their website:
http://pct77.org/adz/herd.htm
This page has been there for a couple of years at least. Don't seem
to be hiding from any discussion of the issue. In fact, on this very
page is a link to:
http://postholer.com/trails/adz.html This is "Postholer's"
website, and it is the page on which he critizes the existence of the
Kickoff. The ADZ website WANTS hikers to read what "Postholer" has
to say. Mr. Postholer, because of some peculiar quirk of his
personality, chooses to insinuate that the organizers of the ADZ (and
I am one of them) are some sinister bunch of predators, exploiting
hikers for profit. This is actually hilarious, in a sick, twisted
kind of way. In fact, the ADZ organizers urge hikers to choose their
own start date, and sign up for a ride back to the kickoff from up
the trail. Last year, I made two runs up and down the trail town
corridor from Idyllwild to Campo, and back the next day, picking up
hikers. I brought a large vehicle in order to hold five hikers and
their gear at a time. I did it because I too urge hikers to choose
their own starting date, and I made a commitment to help out with
rides. Mr. Postholer is being gratuitously insulting. Shame on him
