Nope, I haven't seen a mammoth in a while.  They were around  when I first hiked 
the trail around 1977 BC!!

Switchback replies: Back when I first hiked on the PCT/JMT in 1970 C.E.  as 
the last Ice Age glaciers were retreating, there were lots of mammoths around  
the Sierras.  No problem.  Actually, they were pretty easy going  animals and 
I think that led to their eventual extinction as human hunters took  them out.
