This is off topic of course, but I guess it depends on your definition of wild.  If there used to be guys running around Alaska building cabins in the woods and setting traplines, but now there's not, then that arguably makes Alaska *more* wild, not less.  Right?

Thru-hiking Alaska would be a kick, wouldn't it?  Resupply might be kind of hard to arrange, though.
