[pct-l] Shuttle to Mammoth Lakes, resupply at Muir vs. VVR

Actually the shuttle operated by the city, running to the ski resort, is only operating during ski season. Not very applicable to hikers, even if it is free. Hmm, it seems like both shuttles would never be running on the same dates.

The FS shuttles ran either on 30 min or 60 min schedules depending tourist demand. (More frequent on weekends, holidays and mountain biking events.) Two stops can be of interest on this shuttle. The Reds Meadow stop at the resort and also the stop just down the road from Agnew Meadow.

  There are actually TWO shuttles.

The most well known is the one from Mammoth Mtn Ski Area (Mammoth Mtn Inn is right across the road) down to Red's Meadow and back. It runs from 7 am - about 8:15 pm 7 days a week. Seems to me they ran about every 20 - 30 minutes. Your link is for that shuttle. I've ridden it in both directions. The only issue is that it closes down in very early (like the 9th) September.

The second, lesser know shuttle is the free one operated by the City of Mammoth Lakes that runs between the ski area and the town itself. It also runs on selected routes within Mammoth Lakes itself.

I hadn’t been aware of a shuttle from Red’s Meadow to Mammoth lakes --- do you know how often that runs? Skipping VVR in favor of resupplying at both Muir and Mammoth Lakes sounds like a good option

I found a reference to the shuttle here:

    http://www.cityconcierge.com/mammoth-lakes/summer/reds-meadow.asp

It says the first shuttle leaves at 7:15, so likely there are a number of them throughout the day?

I’d appreciate hearing from someone that’s actually ridden this shuttle to confirm that there are no issues, in particular that they allow you to buy a round-trip ticket from Reds Meadow.
