Well I've been lurking, but couldn't resist responding to Kathleen's request for info. on shoes.
   
  Hello to Donna, Ken & Marcia, Monty and so many of my friends,
   
  So, guess what? I'm going to do a thru-hike this year. Plan to start at the kick-off (maybe get in a couple days earlier for a good start) and will make it all the way to Canada this time!
  (As opposed to 2000 when I only made it to Tahoe.) However, now that I'm older and smarter :) and knowing that it's as much mental as physical .......
   
  Have my Tarptent "Rainbow," my ULA P-2 pack with improved "Catalyst" belt, my trusty Feathered Friends bag, and new alcohol stove from Gossamer Gear. Practically set to go now! Presently living in Mt. Shasta and we're having the most snow they've had since '92 (when they had to call in the National Guard).
   
  Can't wait to see many of you at PCTA Trailfest Sat. March 29th (Arlene Blum is guest speaker - dynamite, you all should be there!) and more of you at the ADZPCTKO end of April.
   
  Good luck to all this season's thru-hikers and can't wait to meet all you trail angels again. Save me a spot!
