Just wanted to get the word out about a great shoe store in Bend, OR
(accessible via the two highway crossings that lead to Sisters, you
would just hitch a bit further).

This place carried all different kinds of athletic shoes--New Balance,
Asics, Brooks, etc. etc.--All the different kinds (excluding boots)
that a thru-hiker would be interested in. And, unlike many many stores
on the PCT, they carried them in extra-wide (4E) and longer lengths (I
wear a 13 but they had 14s and up on some models). The staff were all
surprisingly knowledgeable. They didn't try and dissuade me from my
choice of shoe, merely made suggestions based on my walking style. At
this point on the trail I was used to people telling me I needed such
and such type of shoe for hiking, these guys didn't give me that at
all. I was very happy with the suggested shoe, an Asics size 13 4E. I
actually prefer them over new balance now, even though I went into the
store looking specifically for new balance.

They also told me they'd help me out elsewhere on the trail, with
phone orders. I ended up using those shoes in Bend from there to the
border, so I never needed it, but should you need emergency shoes in a
weird size these guys could be a great choice. They even said if you
called and worked it out, they'd send the shoes USPS General Delivery.

Here's the info off the business card,

Perhaps if someone could inform Yogi, this could be good info for the
guide. I know I had a hell of a time finding someone that sold size 13
4E north of South Lake Tahoe, CA. Even Ashland had nothing for me in
that size.
