It's not so much that anyone SHOULD do it the unplanned way, but it's  
reassuring for people who are not in love with planning to know that  
everything will turn out fine even without a lot of planning. I wish  
I had heard such advice before I drove my planning-phobic self nuts  
trying to plot out a detailed itinerary. Thank goodness my natural  
laid-back, california, go-with-the-flow self took over once I got on  
the trail.
