Yeah, as far as the CDT is concerned, that would be nice.  Although 
they're not that hard to obtain, I don't think it would work in 
Yellowstone or Glacier since they have griz and designated camping.  
Glacier also charges per night.  However, it would be great for the RMNP 
and Indian Peaks Wilderness which are often skipped because of the 
difficulty getting permits from the trail.
