This year, while hiking near the end of Section O, there was a big ol' tree right across the trail that had obviously been cut down.  Also, myself and several other hikers were awakened in the middle of the night (in the same area) due to the delightful sound of trees being cut down within a couple hundred yards of us.  So, give what you can to the PCTA.  Hopefully, it'll help minimize if not eliminate such scenarios for future hikers.
