glad you are interested in wildlife on the trail, Scott. There have been
several good responces to your question. If you are into bird study, you
should see over 100 different species on your thru hike. Listening to bird
songs is definitely the way to go to prepare for forest birding, one of the
most exasperating habitats to bird. There are many other habitats where
sight is easy. Here are my suggestions. 1) listen to tapes. 2) Buy a good
field guide and look at the birds you are listening to. 3) Read the PCt
guidebook!!! Go to www.abasales.com and you can find any cd, and any
field guide made. Buy the National Geographic Society Field Guide to North
american birds.
